Outdoor Play Club
ACT’s Outdoor Play Club is a young person-led afternoon of activities each Wednesday from 3.30pm-5pm (during term time) in Auchencairn’s Link Park and other locations in the village.
Our two ACT Play Rangers, Tess and Cate, use ‘participatory decision-making’ methods to ensure the young people lead on the content of each session, an ‘action and reflection’ process will help to grow ideas and develop activities according to the preferences of those who join in. So far, we have gathered ideas for outdoor cooking including a fire, den building, wood crafts, art and growing food. There will be more activities lined up once the project starts in August 2026.
The Club is open to all ages, families and those with additional support needs with the content and activities being chosen by the young people participating in the previous session. Cate and Tess are experienced facilitators and make sure everyone is included, feels safe and has a nourishing experience, healthy snacks are included!
The project is funded by Inspiring Scotland, with Thrive Outdoors support, to best ensure that free play and enjoyment of our environment contribute to healthy, happy and successful life experiences for our youngest population. Funding is guaranteed until summer of 2027 (with a further year pending confirmation by Scottish Government budgets).
We hope to see you in the park soon!
